Call for Volunteers

Texas Folklife Festival asks community to "Get your Texas on!"

Register as a Folklife volunteer

SAN ANTONIO – For 45 years, the Texas Folklife Festival has captured the living culture and history of Texans.  The festival dates, June 10, 11 & 12, are quickly approaching, the festival office is calling on the community for volunteers to help staff festival positions.

"Folklife has always been a festival about people," said Jo Ann Andera. "What could be more Texan than our community stepping up, showing pride in their culture and community? It’s volunteers who make Folklife possible and make it the amazing event that it is."

We invite companies, church groups, service organizations, school organizations and individuals to join us as gate teams, ticket takers, greeters, participant assistants, information way finders and a variety of other positions.  New this year is an emerging technology tent where we will need those interested in new technologies to help engage our visitors and assist where needed.

Volunteers receive entry wristband for all three days, a parking pass and free shuttle to and from the Festival.

New and returning volunteers are asked to visit TexanCultures.com/volunteer to register in the festival’s online volunteer system. Orientation sessions are May 24 at 6 p.m. and June 1 at 6 p.m. at the museum. Volunteer packets, including wristbands and parking passes, will be distributed at these sessions.

"Texas means ‘friendship’ and lending a hand. We’re asking our great community to help make the 45th anniversary of the Texas Folklife Festival a great experience for everyone."

The Texas Folklife Festival times are Friday, June 10, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, June 11; and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, June 12, Noon to 7 p.m. at the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 E.
