A signature event of the Institute of Texan Cultures, the Texas Folklife Festival has been the largest and premier cultural event in Texas since 1972. In 2011, the festival celebrated its 40th anniversary. In recognition of its contributions to Texan heritage, the ITC is hosting a year-long exhibit exploring the Texas Folklife Festival’s past four decades. Bringing added life to the experience, festival participants will conduct a series of events throughout the year to supplement the stories, images, sounds, and artifacts highlighting many of the events’ most memorable moments.
