A Maverick's Texas

Pasadena Memorial High School students, inspired by the works of Texas Highways magazine photographer Griff Smith, document their unique local culture.

About the Exhibit:

A Maverick's Texas

March 12, 2012 - June 17, 2012

This spring, Texas gets a close-up look at Pasadena, a Houston suburb, through the eyes of its students. Inspired by a visit from Texas Highways magazine photographer Griff Smith, the Pasadena Memorial High School Mavericks set out to document their local culture: people, places and events that define their community.
The exhibit comprises 30 works of photography and 10 pieces of art, selected from a school-wide competition. Accompanying captions and prose discuss how the photographs illustrate cultural concepts and manifestations such as language, religion, land use, educational systems, or customs. (more)
This student-produced video was created by Pasadena Memorial High School’s Principles of Audio/Visual Technology classes to explain and accompany the artwork of A Maverick’s Texas.
