UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures cataloging, displaying 2016 Fiesta medals

SAN ANTONIO – Fiesta Medal Mania celebrates the creativity of each year’s new medals. Used as giveaways, fundraisers, to trade, or just for fun, the range of imagination seen each year is always enjoyable to behold!

From April 1 to May 29, the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures, located at Hemisfair, will display 2016 Fiesta® San Antonio medals. The exhibit will include medals from previous years’ Fiesta celebrations.

Any organization or individual wishing to contribute medals to the annual display should drop off or mail their medal to the Institute of Texan Cultures as soon as the medals are ready. To be included on opening day, medals need to be received at the ITC no later than March 28, 2016, but the museum will accept medals throughout Fiesta and add them to the exhibit while it’s on display.

For more information, email the exhibit team at FiestaMedals@gmail.com. A medal collection box, just inside the museum entrance, will be available throughout the exhibit. A downloadable donor’s form is available at TexanCultures.com/Medals.

The UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures is located at 801 E. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., 78205, and is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
