Mystical Arts of Tibet Workshop
Saturday, September 30 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Location:UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 E. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. and the San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 W. Jones Ave.
Cost: Non-members $30, members $15, UTSA Students Free, $55 for membership and workshop

Join the ITC as we partner with the San Antonio Museum of Art to bring you a workshop that integrates the study of contemporary issues, culture, history and art. Spend the morning from 9am-11:00 am watching the Tibetan Monks from Drepung Loseling Monestary construct a mandala. Then join us at the San Antonio Museum of Art from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm to discuss the meaning and context of a rare Tibetan Buddhist sand mandala, one of only four intact mandalas in the United States.  Deepen your understanding of the core tenants of Buddhism, its origins, and its influence in other cultures by exploring related works of Tibetan Buddhist art in the galleries.  This exciting dual-location workshop includes hands-on, interdisciplinary art lessons for mandala collages and drawings. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!

Price includes viewing of the sand mandala, entrance to both museums, lesson plans and free entrance to an evening lecture at the ITC from 6 pm - 8 pm (optional).

Please note that transportation from ITC to the San Antonio Museum of Art is not included.
