Civil Rights Panel

03:00 PM - 08:00 PM

Members of this panel will discuss both historical and contemporary perspectives on civil rights in Texas.

The Institute of Texan Cultures with academic experts and community representatives will examine the concept of Civil Rights, the definition of the term, and what cultures enjoy what rights. A collaboration with The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of History, the Civil Rights experience will include two panels with expert and community dialogue.
A sample of questions posed to the panel includes: What are rights?  Who deserves rights?  How have rights been defined historically?  How are they defined today?  How has having or not having rights influenced economic, political, and social outcomes for various groups of people?
1st Panel: 3-5 p.m.
Reception: 5-6 p.m.
2nd Panel: 6-8 p.m.
