Institute of Texan Cultures recruiting fall docent class

SAN ANTONIO – The Institute of Texan Cultures is recruiting for its fall 2013 docent class. The museum volunteers often serve on the front-line of guest services, as tour guides and educators who make the visitor experience memorable.
Applications are available by calling 210-458-2226 and should be turned in by Monday, Sept. 23. A personal interview and criminal background check are required of all applicants. Orientation and training classes are Sept. 30 to Oct. 7, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon at the ITC.
A wide range of volunteer positions are available including greeters, exhibit floor and Back 40 guides, first-person character interpreters, oral history interviewers, office assistants, curatorial assistants, gardeners, quilters and many more.
The Institute of Texan Cultures is located on the UTSA HemisFair Park Campus, 801 E. César E. Chávez Blvd., a short distance from the Alamo and the River Walk.
