FAMED CONCORD SINGERS TO PRESENT FESTIVE GERMAN MUSIC
AT INSTITUTE OF TEXAN CULTURES

(San Antonio)—The internationally acclaimed voices of the Concord Singers will fill the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) with festive German music during a performance beginning at 3:30 p.m. March 18.

The 25-member, all-male chorus group was founded in 1931 and hail from New Ulm, Minn., site of a model planned community founded by German pioneers in the early 19th century.  Their repertoire includes late 18th century German and Austrian “volkslieder” (folk songs) as well as popular German standards.

Dubbed New Ulm’s “Ambassadors of Good Will,” the Concord Singers have performed throughout the upper-Midwest region of the United States and in Europe.  They have appeared on radio and television, recorded several albums and are featured performers at Minnesota’s annual Festival of Music, Heritagefest and Oktoberfest.

Their performance is included with the regular ITC admission charge: adults, $5; seniors 65 years and older, $3; children 3 to 12 years, $2; and military personnel with a valid ID, $3.  For more information, call (210) 458-2330.
