Volunteers directly contribute to the success of festivals and special events at the Institute of Texan Cultures. Whether you're a student needing volunteer hours, a kind-hearted citizen who enjoys volunteering at events or a corporate neighbor who prides yourself on giving back to the community, we have a role for you!
Our volunteer opportunities include a variety of tasks that require outstanding customer service. We also have behind-the-scenes jobs including (but not limited to) door and hallway monitors, set up and take down, exhibit monitors, to name a few! Benefits include free event admission, free parking, and discounted volunteer t-shirts.

New Volunteers

New volunteers must apply first! Note, you will be asked to set up a password and then select a job/shift time that you prefer. Applying does not confirm a schedule. You will be notified with an official confirmation once your application is approved. Get started by filling our New Volunteer Application!

Returning Volunteers

Welcome Back! If you've volunteered with us before, please follow these steps below to get started.
Access the Volunteer Information Center. Log into the Volunteer Information Center using your email address as your ID and your volunteer password.

Once you have received your password, simply log into the Volunteer Information Center again using your email and assigned password. You will then be able to review and select the day/job/shift for which you would like to volunteer. You will also have the option to change your password.
If you've forgotten your e-mail address or password, or are having any difficulties logging in, please email us at tffvolunteer@utsa.edu or call (210) 458-2216 and we can assist you.

Volunteer Opportunities for small groups or teams:

We have several volunteer opportunities for small groups (companies, fraternities/sororities, clubs, church groups, etc.) who would like to work together in a team effort.  Our Gate Teams are ideal positions for small groups. Gate Teams are made up of 8-10 people and are responsible for greeting our visitors, taking tickets, checking wristbands, assisting parents with "tag-a-tot" for their children, and stamping visitor’s hands.

Volunteer Benefits:

  • Volunteers receive a wristband that is valid for free admission.
  • Volunteers receive a parking pass and free shuttle to and from the festival grounds.
  • We also encourage group volunteers to wear company and/or organization t-shirts.
So if this sounds like a great way for you to have fun with your coworkers, family members, or club members while supporting your community, please contact the Festival Volunteer Office at (210) 458-2216. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older and those under 18 must volunteer with a parent or guardian.

Phone registration

Should you wish to sign up via telephone, please call the volunteer hotline at 210-458-2216 for assistance.
